It’s all happening! You’re now deciding your date, venue, and your photographer—yasss! I’m gonna make it devilishly easy for you, giving you all the advice you need and all the ways I can help you.
Check out my ultimate list of suppliers and vendors I trust to make your day beyond magical.
Who will be in your wedding party (if you’re having one)? Hit up Google for some super-fun announcement ideas!
Now’s the time to do some location scouting for where you’ll say your “I dos” and gather your loved ones.
There are a lot of ‘little’ things that can pop up, and it’s important you’re not left dealing with them and taking away your enjoyment of your day. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Designate someone you trust to take control of all the on-the-day things, like making final adjustments, reception set-up, communications with vendors, taking home all your gifts and mementoes after the reception, and closing out any final vendor payments.
Communicate to your wedding party what their roles involve! Some couples create detailed itineraries of responsibilities leading up to the wedding. This helps everyone understand where they need to be and what you expect of them.
Strong relationships with your vendors will lead to a carefree wedding day. Whether it’s a Zoom or phone call to check in, book a final catch up, or organise a walk through of the Venue or Air BnB.
Having a selection of suggested vendors, I can assure there are teams committed to going above and beyond for your big day.
Schedule flowers to arrive before I do and have all of your things ready, e.g. your dress, rings, and mementoes. Send your finalised timeline to everyone (bridal party, your go-to person, and vendors) to help the day run smoothly and ensure everyone is on the same page.
Have your rings cleaned, ties or bows ready to pop over your head, un-pin any suits, remove any tags, and consider if your fancy socks will show and which way they face (yes, I’ve had groomsmen put their ‘best ‘ socks on the wrong way). Have backup lipstick, hairspray, band-aids, bouquets and hair pins!
Things like loose flowers, ring boxes, fabrics or styled trays can help elevate your flat lays, so don’t be afraid to bombard me with all the stuff—I love getting creative! Be mindful of fabrics used and prep them for the day ahead—silks can stain from water on bouquets, so waterproof them beforehand!
Location greatly impacts your images. If you expect your photos to look a certain way, find the appropriate location. While getting ready, I suggest a place with lots of natural light, without clutter. Remember, I shoot things ‘as is’ due to time limits, so I cannot spend time tidying up or re-styling the room. And don’t forget to consider your reception lighting to achieve the look you want.
Avoid the awks and thumb twiddling—organise a cue with your celebrant so you know when it’s time to walk down the aisle. Don’t stare at your feet—keep those eyes up! Make your first kiss LONG so I can capture this significant moment for you, and pre-plan where you’ll stand, your preferred side and how your celebrant should fit with this.
It’s the first time you’ve seen each other all day, and you’ll want to soak in that you’re now married! Don’t forget to eat and drink something before it’s go time again.
The more time you give yourself, the less you’ll be rushed. Result? A flowing and carefree day.
Every wedding has its own kind of magic, but following this timeline will save you so much panic before and on your big day—trust me!
Book your vendors, choose your wedding venue and photographic locations*, decide on your wedding party, and start investing in yourself! *A reminder that location is everything—have you selected locations that reflect what you're expecting from your photos?
We meet for a couples consult. This is key for you both to communicate your wishes and expectations. It’s also a great idea to meet with your venue, try their food and get some hair and make-up trials sooner rather than later!
Bridesmaid accessories, first dance song, guest book, choosing your bonbonniere? Now is the time to add all the details to make your day yours! Write it down, source it, and don't forget to ask your vendors to help with your wishes. This includes ideas for your photos—give me all your requests!
You’re almost there, and this is where the nerves can kick in. Ensure you run through everything planned for the day with your wedding party, vendors and go-to peeps. Send a final timeline to everyone with a role on the day. If you haven’t yet—trial EVERYTHING.
We’re at the pointy end now! You’ll be busy this week, perhaps welcoming travelling family members or friends, collecting your gown and suits, having rehearsal dinners and beauty treatments and getting sleep! I’ll contact you to review your family photo list and how the day will run.
This is it! This is when all your hard work and planning come into effect. Your job? Enjoy yourselves, be in the moment and let me work my photographic magic on you two lovebirds!
If you want more than just a wedding photographer, but a master of her craft who’s also a big day best friend, let’s get chatting!
